Storz couplings are often also referred to as fire department couplings. These are symmetrical, non-locking couplings. The couplings are connected by inserting the clevis parts into each other and then twisting them against each other. The rotating cleat parts make them easy to couple and protect the seals, as the seals do not have to be twisted against each other.
